During the milling season of 2009/10, southern China encountered record dry weather, leading to great decline of sugarcane and sugar output and climbing sugar price. International sugar price also saw great increase for major producing countries experienced different weather disasters which caused the reduction of output.
Under the environment of rising international price, Chinese macro-economy and tight supply, China saw soaring sugar price, making future price went through RMB7500/MT and spot price in Nanning reached RMB7600/MT. After that sugar price fell back, as the state continuously sold reserves and international price declined fast.
